Cult Takeover

Upon returning to the Shadow Plane, the Collectors were met by their old friends Orel, Starag, and Wren, members of the Keepers. After fighting off some of Verath’s forces together, they returned to a camp, where the group was happily surprised to be reunited with Minis and Korbin. When Starag explained his lack of faith in Minis to perform the heavy responsibilities thrust upon him, Boris volunteered to undergo the transformation into a vampire.

The group then realized the significance of finding Verath’s phylactery, since destroying the dracolich himself while his phylactery was still intact meant he would regenerated after some time. The group went to a city to infiltrate Verath’s cult in hopes of finding its whereabouts.

Painful trials by fire were part of the initiation and proving themselves loyal to Verath. When the final trial was presented, Kin quietly summoned rain to put out the fire that was about to be lit under the stakes he and Nayte were tied to. The group then convinced the cultists this was a sign from Verath that they were specially chosen, and they turned the cultists against the high priestess. A shocking grasp to the face by Nayte convinced the priestess to reveal the phylactery’s location – an island they could only reach by paying the ferryman docked on the north side of the city. Meanwhile, Kin transformed the cult from a group of mindless lemmings who burnt themselves at the command of the priestess to a group of mindless stoners who learned the way of worshipping the doobie.
